'automountd not running, retrying'

solaris 管理

今セットアップ中のSolarisなサーバが、shutdownでinit 5もしくはinit 6に移行しようとすると、途中で“automountd not running, retrying”と吐いたままになってしまうという症状に見舞われてます。
具体的には、

  • マシンは、Sun Fire 280R
  • OSは、Solaris 9 8/03 ＋ Jan/16/04のRecommended Patch
  • 内蔵HDD２つの内、片方にOSその他、もう片方は空だけど一応マウントさせてある。
  • ストレージ上の８つの領域をマウントしている。

な感じの環境で、以下の様になる。

で、これ以降は刺さったまま。
stop + a でOpenBootに入って対処するか、電源ボタンを長押ししての強制電源断しかできず。
んだから次にbootすればfsckかかって激しく気が滅入る。
ただこれが毎回のshutdown時に起きるかというとそうでもなくて、「まぁautomountdやらautofsやらの問題なんだろう」位は解るもののどうも原因も解らないし再現性が薄い。15時〜22時位の間に検証のために十回位は再起動だのシャットダウンだのしていたが、この現象が起きたのは３回位だろうか。


一応、Googleで「"automountd not running, retrying" shutdown」で調べると（google:"automountd not running, retrying" shutdown）、数は少ないながら同じ境遇の人がいるようだ。
しかしいずれもきちんと解決はしていなさそうで、暫定対処してる方（ init 6 doesn't work - automount hang）がいる位。


いやぁ参った参った。明日にはこのサーバは某所に送られて、それと共に私は来週出張に出てその先で再会してセットアップせなならんのになぁ。


最後の頼みとばかり、SunSolve の右上の検索欄にそのまんま「automountd not running, retrying」と入れて検索にかけてみたら、116243-01 のpatch を見付けた。が。これ、

4874083 system hangs at ' automountd not running, retrying ' going from init s to init 3

って書いてあるんだよなぁ。s to 3 じゃぁ逆なんだが...。
まぁこれを当てて様子を見つつ、保守先に相談ですわなぁ。


一応、他にもGoogleで見つけた中に、Sun Fire V250のProduct NotesなPDF（だからPDF直リンク）の12ページで、

System Hangs With The Message ’automountd not running, retrying’
Attempting to switch the run-level from single user mode to multi-user mode by using the init command results in the system hanging with the message:

automountd not running, retrying

To avoid this problem, use the reboot command instead of the init command.

んー、こっちもsingle user modeからmulti-user modeへの移行時の話だけど、「reboot使え」とか書かれてますな。init 5な時はhaltなんだろうかねぇ...。
